Trump 60 Minutes Interview

  • President Trump said immigration enforcement “hasn’t gone far enough,” defending ICE agents in a “60 Minutes” interview when asked about recent operations that used force during arrests. “You have to get the people out,” he said, arguing that many deportees are violent offenders.

  • Trump refused to detail what would happen if China attacked Taiwan but said Xi Jinping understands the consequences. He also denied directing Justice Department prosecutions of critics, including former national security adviser John Bolton, former FBI Director James Comey, and New York Attorney General Letitia James, saying prosecutors ‘go after them automatically.'

  • POTUS repeated calls to end the Senate filibuster to resolve the government shutdown, set to become the longest in US history on Nov. 5. He insisted he won't negotiate 'by extortion' over Medicaid funding and Affordable Care Act subsidies.

Dodgers Repeat

  • The Los Angeles Dodgers clinched their second straight World Series on Saturday, beating the Toronto Blue Jays 5–4 in 11 innings. Miguel Rojas tied the game in the ninth with a solo homer, and Will Smith hit the go-ahead shot in the 11th. Two defensive gems, a throw home by Rojas and a leaping catch by Andy Pages, kept L.A. alive in the bottom of the ninth.

  • Yoshinobu Yamamoto earned World Series MVP honors after going 3-0 with a 1.02 ERA, striking out 15 and walking just two over 17⅔ innings. He threw a four-hit complete game in Game 2, held the Yankees to one run over six innings in Game 6, then returned on no rest to record the final seven outs of Game 7.

  • The victory gave the Dodgers their third championship in six years and their ninth overall, tying the Red Sox and Athletics for third-most all-time. After battling injuries and inconsistency during a 93-win season, Los Angeles became the first team since the 2000 Yankees to repeat as champions.

Hotels Adopt Airline Model

  • Hotels are following the airline industry's unbundling model and using artificial intelligence to charge separately for amenities like early check-in, better views, and pool access that were once included in room rates.

  • More than 5,000 Wyndham hotels debuted technology in 2024 that texts guests before check-in with add-on offers, while major chains, including IHG, Marriott, and Hilton, are expanding optional services during booking.

  • Guest adoption remains low despite the industry push. Only 14% of US hotel guests were willing to pay extra for better views, according to Atmosphere Research Group surveys. At boutique hotels offering prepaid perks like flowers or cookies, only 5-10% of guests opt in.
