Primetime News Anchors Now Jobless

Two major names in primetime news will no longer be seen on the air. Fox anchor Tucker Carlson and CNN Host Don Lemon both lost their jobs within hours of each other on Monday.

What happened?
Carlson: Fox News announced that the decision to part ways with the anchor was mutual and gave no further reason for the split. Carlson was at the forefront of the Dominion Voting Systems defamation lawsuit against Fox for allowing guests to spread rumors of voter fraud while on air. He is also involved in a lawsuit with a former producer that accused him of sexism and harassment.

Lemon: Similarly, CNN announced that their split was mutual but Lemon took to social media saying he was fired and “in total shock”. The news company didn’t give an explanation for Lemon’s departure either. Lemon was labeled as sexist for recent incidents, including him saying that the US men’s soccer team is more interesting to watch than the women’s, and calling 51-year-old Presidential candidate Nikki Haley “past her prime”.

What’s next:
Both news stations plan to use current talent to fill the slots vacated by the two former stars until they can find permanent replacements. Neither Carlson or Lemon have spoken publicly about their situations.
