Ukraine sues EU neighbors over food imports ban

Ukraine is suing Slovakia, Poland, and Hungary over their bans on food imports from Kyiv. Russia’s invasion of Ukraine last year essentially closed the Black Sea shipping lanes and forced Ukraine to transport its grain by land. In response, the European Union banned Ukraine from importing grain to Slovakia, Poland, and Hungary but that ban ended on Sept 15. So the three countries decided to announce their own restrictions. And Ukraine is suing because it doesn’t think individual countries should be allowed to ban imports without the consent of the EU. (More)
