Two U.S. service members were killed, and another remains missing after an Iranian missile and drone attack on American forces in Jordan this weekend, U.S. Central Command said. Four additional service members were treated for injuries and later returned to duty. The identities of those killed have not yet been released pending family notification.
The U.S. responded with a new round of airstrikes against Iranian military targets, which officials said were intended to punish Iranian forces and further degrade Tehran's military capabilities. The strikes marked the eighth consecutive night of U.S. attacks as the conflict continued to escalate.
Iran also reported attacks targeting U.S. military facilities and regional allies, while Jordan, Bahrain and Kuwait said their air defenses intercepted missiles or drones aimed at their territory.

Spain defeated defending champion Argentina 1-0 in extra time on Sunday to win its second men's FIFA World Cup title. Substitute Ferran Torres scored the decisive goal in the 106th minute after Spain dominated much of the match but was repeatedly denied by Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez, who finished with a World Cup final-record 11 saves.
Argentina played the final stages with 10 men after midfielder Enzo Fernández was sent off in the 90th minute for a reckless challenge on Spain defender Pau Cubarsí. Tempers flared again after the final whistle, with Argentina's Leandro Paredes also shown a red card.
The victory capped a historic tournament for Spain, which conceded just one goal in eight matches and extended its unbeaten run to 38 games. Lionel Messi, playing in what could be his final World Cup, was held without a shot on target as Spain claimed its first world title since 2010.

Social media influencers Andrew and Tristan Tate were arrested Saturday in Miami on warrants tied to new criminal charges filed in the United Kingdom. British prosecutors said the brothers are awaiting extradition to face additional allegations, including rape and trafficking-related offenses.
Andrew Tate faces seven new rape charges, along with additional counts related to trafficking for sexual exploitation, assault and illegal child images, while Tristan Tate faces new charges including rape, sexual assault and trafficking for sexual exploitation. Prosecutors said the latest allegations involve four additional alleged victims and stem from incidents between 2010 and 2017.
The brothers, who hold dual U.S. and British citizenship, have denied all allegations and have not been convicted of the charges filed in either the U.K. or Romania. They previously faced separate criminal investigations in Romania involving allegations of organized crime, human trafficking, and money laundering.
