Self-Deportation Takes Flight
The Supreme Court ruled today that the Trump administration can revoke Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for nearly 350,000 Venezuelans, clearing the way for potential deportations.
The TPS program has shielded Venezuelans from deportation since 2021 due to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in their home country. A federal judge had previously blocked Noem's termination, citing concerns the decision appeared "predicated on negative stereotypes." However, the Supreme Court's ruling allows the administration to proceed while litigation continues in lower courts.
Meanwhile, the administration launched its first charter flight under the new "self-deportation" program on Monday. The initiative offers undocumented immigrants free flights home plus a $1,000 stipend after confirmed departure—a system officials claim saves 70% compared to the $17,000 average cost of forced deportation.
Monday's flight left Houston about 9:30 a.m. and took 65 people from Honduras and Colombia to their respective home countries, according to a Department of Homeland Security official.
Airbnb Put to Bed in Spain
Spain's Consumer Rights Ministry has demanded that Airbnb block over 65,000 holiday rental listings for rule violations.
The infractions are primarily missing or incorrect license information. The first wave targets 5,800 properties across Spain, including Madrid, Andalusia, and Barcelona's Catalonia region.
Airbnb is fighting back, announcing it will appeal the decision. The company claims the ministry lacks authority over short-term rentals and used "an indiscriminate methodology" that incorrectly included rentals that don't require licenses.
The crackdown comes amid Spain's housing affordability crisis, which has sparked widespread protests. Tens of thousands of Spaniards have taken to the streets over skyrocketing housing and rental costs, which many blame on the proliferation of short-term rentals in popular tourist destinations.
Barcelona has already announced plans to eliminate all 10,000 of its licensed short-term rentals by 2028 to protect housing for permanent residents.
In-N-Out Gets Healthy Healthier
Popular burger chain In-N-Out is removing artificial food dyes, flavors, and preservatives from its menu.
In-N-Out will replace artificial dyes with natural alternatives like beta carotene, vegetable juice, and turmeric in products ranging from their Signature Pink Lemonade to spreads and pickles. The chain is also swapping chemical preservatives for natural enzymes in their buns and researching higher-quality oil for their fries.
Additionally, it is removing high-fructose corn syrup in favor of natural sugar and introducing non-dairy oat milk creamer, showing broader commitments to ingredient quality rather than just removing artificial dyes.
The menu overhaul comes less than a month after the Department of Health and Human Services announced plans to outlaw artificial food dyes. In-N-Out Owner Lynsi Snyder tied the changes to the company's mission: "Providing the freshest, highest-quality foods and services... It's been my family's priority since 1948."
In-N-Out joins the growing wave of food companies switching to more natural ingredients. Tyson Foods recently said it will reformulate products without artificial dyes, while Steak 'n Shake is reportedly replacing seed oils with beef tallow in its cooking processes.
